Science. vs Faith.
Science thoughts:
- Science would suggest you have five senses in which you use to identify and observe the world around you.
- We are told that science is based on facts, science will solve all our problems, science is evil and destroys nature, science is good but the institutions which use it are evil, science is dehumanising, science is fun, science closes the mind to deeper realities, and sciences gives us the truth. Of all these impressions, which are real?
- “Science can teach us, and I think our own hearts can teach us, no longer to look around for imaginary supports, no longer to invent allies in the sky, but rather to look to our own efforts here below to make this world a better place to live in, instead of the sort of place the churches in all these centuries have made it.” — “Why I am Not a Christian”, by Bertrand Russell
- Science works on the premise of duality.
Faith thoughts:
- Genesis is told from God’s perspective.
- ‘We must be clear from the outset that it is not possible to put God in a test tube or prove him by the usual scientific methodology.
- Christianity is based on evidence. It is reasonable faith. Christian faith goes beyond reason, but not against it.
- If God could be proved, there would be no need for faith. Whilst science can neither prove or disprove God, it raises some important questions about life’s meaning and purpose.
